Leonel Villa Caballero MD, FACP

Research Interests
Dr. Caballero obtained his medical degree from the Instituto Politecnico Nacional, in Mexico City and completed his Master’s degree in Medical Sciences at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, where he is also a Professor. He is currently completing his doctoral degree at UCSD. His research interests have focused on health issues in the Hispanic population, particularly in the field of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease in the U.S.-Mexico border region. Currently his main research project is about obesity, acculturation and cardiovascular risk factors in schoolchildren living in Tijuana. He is interested in pursuing collaborations on globalization and its effects on health, particularly in developing nations.
