Esmeralda Iniguez, MPHMy current research interest is in the area of behavioral and infectious disease epidemiology, with an emphasis in underserved communities at the national and international level. Due to my background in biology, health promotion and behavioral epidemiology as well as international health, I find myself being extremely interested in the field of HIV/AIDS. The prospect of establishing a career in which I can help underserved populations, while at the same time incorporate the sciences of biostatistics and epidemiology, is highly rewarding and motivating. My career goals thus center around becoming an established researcher in the field of HIV/AIDS as it pertains to underserved populations, with a specialty in developing mathematical models that will help project the future of this epidemic. My current research involves the development of mathematical models, to project the future of the HIV/AIDS epidemic curve among injection drug users, men who have sex with men, and female sex workers. It is my hope that the results of my current research will help shape HIV/AIDS related policy, resource allocation as well as prevention interventions. |
