Lydia N. Drumright, PhD MPH is an infectious disease epidemiologist in the Division of International Health and Cross-Cultural Medicine. She earned her doctorate in Epidemiology from the Joint Doctoral Program in Public Health at UCSD and SDSU, where her work focused on behavioral and biological factors associated with HIV-1 transmission among men who have sex with men (MSM) with acute and early infection, and partnership factors associated with STI transmission among adolescent populations. She earned her MPH in Health Education and Community Health at California State University, Northridge where she focused on implementation and evaluation of public health interventions. During this time, she spent two years training in outbreak investigation and control at the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services.

Current areas of research included use of ‘club’ drugs and HIV transmission, prevention of HIV, and transmission probabilities among MSM. Dr. Drumright’s research interests also include molecular epidemiology of disease spread, examination of STI/HIV transmission within partnerships and sexual networks, and innovative ways to combine molecular and behavioral epidemiological information.
